Eckard, Hammond wed

Natasha Susanne Eckard and Tom Josef Hammond, both of Washington, D.C., were married March 29, 2014, at the National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C. The officiant was the Rev. Beau Underwood, who performed the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Susan Bruster Eckard and the late Scott L. Eckard of Stanberry. The groom is the son of Willard Hammond of Granville, N.Y., and the late Ruth Sayers of Niskayuna, N.Y.

Presented in marriage by her brother, Blake Scott-Douglas Eckard of Stanberry, the bride wore a fitted gown of Italian satin with a flare bottom. Bridesmaids were Brooke Shupe of Washington, D.C.; Emily (Sager) McGlamery of Tucson, Ariz.; Jessica Killion of St. Louis, Mo.; Jamie Belding of St. Louis, Mo.; Brittanie Rossi of Wichita, Kan.; and Sidney Eckard of Stanberry. Groomsmen were Paul Sass of Washington, D.C.; Paul Winn, Alexandria, Va.; John Cosey of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Daniel Boone of Granville, N.Y.; Alan Goodrich of Denver, Colo.; and Scott Frein of Richmond, Va.

Blanche Violet Eckard, niece of the bride, Stanberry, was the flower girl, and Harlan Scott Eckard, nephew of the bride of Stanberry, served as the ring bearer.

The organist was Dr. J. Michael McMahon of Washington, D.C., and special music was provided by vocalist Susannah Bayliss, cousin of the bride, of Chicago, Ill. Kylee Sayers, sister of the groom of Granville, N.Y., read scripture.

A reception, dinner and dance were held in the Crystal Room of the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The bride, a Stanberry R-II High School graduate, received a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is assistant to House Speaker John Boehner for policy and a graduate student of mathematics and statistics at Georgetown University.

The groom, a Granville High School graduate, received a B.A. in political science from Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y. He is also a graduate of the United States Naval War College, Newport, R.I., with a M.A. in national security and strategic studies. He is the staff director of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, Subcommittee on Space; and serves as an officer in the United States Navy Reserve.

The newlyweds reside in Washington, D.C.


Harris 60th anniversary to take place

Don and Irene Harris of Albany, Mo., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married June 13, 1954. Their children and spouses are Rodney Harris of Albany, Donna (Harris) and Randy Teel of Liberty, Terri (Harris) and Nick Tompkins of Albany along with their grandchildren, Payden Harris and Britany Bahr of Kansas City and Brett Teel of Liberty would like for all family and friends to join them in helping them celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at a reception in their honor.

The reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014, at The First Baptist Church in Albany. Cards may be sent to the couple at 402 E. Cameron, Albany, MO 64402. No gifts, please.
