We welcome your letters
The Albany Ledger welcomes comments and letters to the editor from its readers. To be published, letters must be signed and include the writer’s address and daytime phone number for verification. Letters should be typed or neatly printed. Personal thank-you notes will not be published as letters to the editor.
In the last issue before an election, only letters expressing support for candidates will be accepted. Letters that would require a response from a candidate will not be used in the last issue before an election.

Birth announcements and photos of newborns will be published without charge of any baby born to parents or grandparents from The Albany Ledger’s market area.
Submitted information should be typed or neatly printed and include the complete name of the baby, parents and maternal and paternal grandparents (and great-grandparents if living), the town of their residence, the baby's sex (sometime it's hard to tell from the name), its length and weight at birth, the exact time of birth and hospital, and the names and ages of any siblings. In the case of unmarried parents, the father's name will not be published unless the information is accompanied by his signature granting permission for us to do so.
Birth announcements will be edited so that they appear in a consistent style.

Ads congratulating someone on reaching a certain milestone generally range between $12 and $18 depending on the number of words and size of the ads.
Most obituaries, including photos, are published at no charge. Relevant factual information will be published, however, information may be edited or rewritten for consistent style, spelling and grammar. Unedited obituaries will be published at the open advertising rate. Funeral homes should e-mail obituaries to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Our Community Calendar includes news about upcoming events that are free and open to the public or news of fund-raising events held by school groups or nonprofit organizations. News about upcoming events are published free of charge, however, we cannot guarantee the events will be published more than one time. Paid advertising is available at both profit and nonprofit rates. The deadline for our Community Calendar is 5 p.m. Friday.
